Who and when?

15 enthusiasts will take part in the sports event “Dari dah“, dedicated to World Pulmonary Hypertension Day. The event will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021, from 10.00 am in Fitness Spartak and will be led by fitness coach Stefan Terziiski, founder of Bestefficient.

World Pulmonary Hypertension Day helps people

Pulmonary hypertension is a rare disease that affects nearly 500 Bulgarians, 180 of whom are in the acute phase of the disease and need a lung transplant. The disease, known as “blue lip disease”, due to the oxygen deficiency it causes, causes many patients to not have an active social life. For a patient with pulmonary hypertension, any movement is associated with shortness of breath, and sports and climbing stairs, for example, are a serious challenge and impossible activity. Patients with the rare disease are confined to their oxygen concentrators.

For World Pulmonary Hypertension Day we do HIIT

The sports event “Dari dah” will include high-intensity interval training, which in addition to increasing the heart rate, increases the levels of some key human hormones – testosterone, growth hormone, etc., which in turn creates conditions for fat burning and development of muscle mass. During part of the workout, the heart rate rises to 85-90%, and the metabolism remains active for hours after the end of the workout. The intensive training in the gym will end with a few relay games and teambuilding tasks.

Personal Trainer of the event

I have the honor to lead the activities this year. As a passionate fan of all aerobic sports like swimming, running, rowing, cycling I can’t imagine the difficulties that people with Pulmonary Hypertension meet in their lives. But there’s a chance for them to get over all the struggles and start a normal life. We could spread the existence of the problem to the world and make people care, let people with PH know they are not alone in the battle. You can always take a step ahead, never mind which side of the problem you are staying.
